Make a Gift From My IRA

Search IRA Rollover Custodians:

IRA Charitable Rollover

If you are 70½ or older, an IRA charitable rollover, also called a qualified charitable distribution (QCD), is a way you can help support SNU's important work and receive a tax benefit this year.

Flowchart: Donor directs IRA custodian to make an IRA charitable rollover gift to SNU.

Benefits of an IRA charitable rollover

  • Avoid taxes on transfers of up to $105,000 from your IRA
  • Make a gift that is not subject to the deduction limits on charitable gifts
  • Help further the work and mission of Southern Nazarene University

How an IRA qualified charitable distribution, or charitable rollover, gift works

  1. Contact your IRA plan administrator to make a gift from your IRA to SNU.
  2. Your IRA funds will be directly transferred to Southern Nazarene University, without counting toward your taxable income.
  3. Please note that IRA charitable rollover gifts do not qualify for a charitable deduction. This means that you may be able to give a larger gift than you would otherwise make, because it does not count toward your maximum deductible amount.
  4. Please contact us if you wish for your gift to be used for a specific purpose.
